Cannes International Film Festival
Cannes, France
April - May 1953

Mel Ferrer attended the 1953 International Film Festival at Cannes where his film "Lili" received a special award. He was between two movies at the time - finishing up "Saadia" in Morocco and ready to start "Knights of the Round Table" in London. Close friend Gregory Peck was also on hand, as he was temporarily living in London while filming two movies there.

On the left above Mel can be seen with the President of the 1953 festival, Jean Cocteau (in the middle), and jurist Edward G. Robinson immediately after the showing of "Lili". The center photo shows him at the reception for the film with his co-star Leslie Caron, while the two actors were photographed more informally on the right. Below he can be seen at the festival with Peck and an unidentified journalist, while the remaining photos were taken at a festival party. He's shown receiving kudos with Leslie Caron (center) and socializing with old Metro pal Lana Turner (right).
