Mel Ferrer Writings
Going Places, Seeing People
Mel Ferrer's children's story "Tito's Hats" was included
as a chapter in a homeschool text book published in 1970 by Harcourt, Brace
& Jovanovich. The text was rewritten (almost assuredly by Ferrer himself,
who's listed as the author) to accommodate the graded vocabulary necessary
in a beginning reader. The story was shortened quite a bit with more
emphasis on the idea of a boy getting his first hair cut, and the
illustrations were appropriately sunny and typical of text books of the era.
The illustrator is Don Almquist.
